This painting was inspired by a glance out my window. There was a steady breeze and spring was on the verge of transitioning to summer. Whenever horses get separated from the heard they adopt the posture shown here, head up, ears forward and often whinny to get a audible location on their buddies. This was an image I captured in my mind when looking out a window overlooking one of our pastures. Even though the image isn't static, and implies wind and movement, the confident stance of the horse conveys a sense of being grounded and calm. It captures a moment of pause and evokes a sense of curiosity about what lies ahead. " 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.' " Jeremiah 29:11
